Punch Brothers are an American progressive bluegrass quintet founded in 2006 by mandolinist Chris Thile, also known from the trio Nickel Creek. The band - Thile, guitarist Chris Eldridge, banjoist Noam Pikelny, bassist Paul Kowert, and fiddler Brittany Haas - draws on bluegrass, classical music, jazz, and rock to build a sound that defies easy genre labels. Their 2018 album All Ashore earned them a Grammy Award for Best Folk Album, and they have released seven studio albums on Nonesuch Records.
