Rainald Grebe (born 14 April 1971 in Cologne) is a German singer-songwriter, cabaret artist, actor, theatre director and author. He studied puppetry at the Ernst Busch Academy in Berlin and has been touring with his own programmes since 2004 - as a solo act, with the Kapelle der Versöhnung, and with the larger Orchester der Versöhnung. His sharp, satirical songs about German society, regional identity and everyday absurdity have made him one of the most distinctive voices in German-language political cabaret, with critics placing him in a tradition alongside Wolf Biermann and Franz-Josef Degenhardt.
Grebe announced his return to the stage via Instagram, declaring himself recovered and unveiling new tour dates for the programme 'Ich erinnere mich - glaube ich'.
Grebe performed his first concert after a long health-related absence, appearing at the Pavillon in Hannover on 4 March 2026 alongside guitarist Marcus Baumgart.
Grebe was hospitalised after suffering another stroke in October 2024, leading to the cancellation of all scheduled performances through spring 2025.
As of October 2024, Grebe had suffered at least 17 strokes in total as a result of the autoimmune disease Vaskulitis, which he has had since 2014.
Grebe performed a three-hour concert at the Berliner Waldbühne in front of 15,000 people with the Waldbühnenorchester, a career highlight he later repeated in 2021 and 2023.
