Ralph Fiennes (born 22 December 1962 in Ipswich, Suffolk) is an English actor, director and producer, trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He earned his first Oscar nomination for playing Nazi commandant Amon Göth in Schindler's List (1993), went on to embody Lord Voldemort across the Harry Potter series and MI6 chief M in the Daniel Craig Bond films, and received his third Academy Award nomination for the papal thriller Conclave (2024), which won Best Picture at the BAFTAs. Equally at home on stage, he won a Tony Award for Hamlet on Broadway in 1995 and continues to appear regularly in London's West End.
The Choral (2025), Fiennes' WWI drama in which he plays a choirmaster, became a streaming hit on HBO Max in August 2026.
David Hare's play Grace Pervades, with Fiennes in the lead role of Victorian actor Henry Irving, transferred to the Theatre Royal Haymarket in the West End for a limited run.
Fiennes is set to appear as President Coriolanus Snow in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, scheduled for theatrical release on 20 November 2026.
Fiennes appeared as Dr. Kelson in 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, which earned strong reviews despite underperforming at the box office.
Conclave, in which Fiennes plays Cardinal Lawrence, earned eight Oscar nominations and grossed over $105 million worldwide, winning the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
