Retrogott is the rap alias of Kurt Tallert (born 1986, Köln), a German MC and producer who has been one of the most consistent voices in German-language underground hip-hop since the mid-2000s. Together with DJ Hulk Hodn - the duo was known as Huss und Hodn until 2013 - he has released over ten studio albums rooted in boom-bap and jazz-rap, deliberately keeping his distance from the commercial mainstream. His dense, wordplay-heavy lyrics draw on the Golden Era of American rap while engaging critically with contemporary German society and the rap scene itself.
