Best of S.T.S. & Austropop - Auf A Wort
An evening of Austrian pop music featuring the greatest hits of S.T.S. and austropop classics at Congress Graz.
S.T.S. (Steinbäcker-Timischl-Schiffkowitz) was an Austropop trio from Graz, active from 1978 to 2014, whose three-part acoustic harmonies - modelled on Crosby, Stills & Nash - became a defining sound of Austrian popular music. The 1984 single "Fürstenfeld", written in Styrian dialect, reached number one in Austria and made the band known well beyond its home country; over their career they sold 2.5 million records and collected eleven platinum certifications.
Schiffkowitz (Helmut Röhrling) received the Goldenes Ehrenzeichen der Stadt Graz from Mayor Elke Kahr in recognition of his decades-long artistic work.
S.T.S. received the Amadeus Austrian Music Award for Lifetime Achievement at the ceremony held at the Volkstheater in Vienna.
The Austrian government awarded S.T.S. the Goldenes Ehrenzeichen für Verdienste um die Republik Österreich, presented by Culture Minister Claudia Schmied.
S.T.S. officially disbanded in 2014 following Günter Timischl's diagnosis of shoulder arthrosis, which had forced the cancellation of concerts during their farewell tour.
The farewell tour in 2012 sold out the Wiener Stadthalle twice, the Münchner Olympiahalle twice, and the Grazer Stadthalle four times.
