SAGA - The Generations Tour 2027
British progressive rock band SAGA brings their Generations Tour to Hannover.
Saga is a Canadian progressive rock band formed in 1977 in Oakville, Ontario, built around the Crichton brothers - guitarist Ian and bassist Jim - alongside vocalist Michael Sadler and keyboardist Jim Gilmour. Their melodic, keyboard-driven sound earned them a devoted following across Europe and North America, with over ten million albums sold and performances for more than 15 million people in over 20 countries. Albums like 'Worlds Apart' (1981) and 'Behaviour' (1985) remain cornerstones of the prog-rock canon, and the band has continued releasing new material into the 2020s, most recently the acoustic-flavoured 'Symmetry' (2021).
Saga announced a return to live performances in 2026 with a series of engagements across Canada, with frontman Michael Sadler rejoining guitarist Ian Crichton and keyboardist Jim Gilmour.
Vocalist Michael Sadler clarified that surgery in September 2024 successfully removed his rare muscle-invasive cancer, though no further treatment is available; he stated he is not currently terminal.
Sadler confirmed live shows were on hold due to his health situation, with the band stating his recovery was the top priority.
The band revealed that guitarist Ian Crichton had injured his leg/foot in summer 2024 and was given time off to fully recover, with a substitute guitarist completing the 2024 fall tour.
Saga released their 22nd studio album 'Symmetry' via earMUSIC; it reached #11 on the German album chart, their highest position there since 'Behaviour' in 1985.
