About

Samael is a Swiss extreme metal band from Sion, active since 1987, built around founding brothers Vorph (vocals, guitar) and Xy (drums). Starting out in black metal, they gradually folded industrial and electronic elements into their sound - the 1996 album Passage is widely regarded as the turning point - and became one of the genre's key pioneers. Their catalogue spans ten studio albums, with the most recent full-length being Hegemony (2017).
