Sarah Brightman is a British soprano, actress and dancer from Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, who first came to global attention as the original Christine Daaé in Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera on the West End in 1986. She went on to pioneer the classical crossover genre, blending operatic vocals with pop and new-age production, and is recognised as the world's best-selling soprano with over 30 million records sold and more than 180 gold and platinum awards across 40+ countries. Her 1997 duet with Andrea Bocelli, "Time to Say Goodbye", sold over 12 million copies worldwide. She is also a GRAMMY-nominated artist and holds a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
