Scott McKenzie was an American singer best known for the 1967 hit "San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)", which became an anthem of the Summer of Love. He performed at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967, one of the defining moments of the counterculture era. The song was written by his friend John Phillips of the Mamas & the Papas.
