Sir John Eliot Gardiner is a British conductor celebrated for his interpretations of Baroque and Classical music. He founded the Monteverdi Choir and the English Baroque Soloists. His work on the complete cantatas of J. S. Bach and his recordings of Handel and Mozart have established him as a central figure in historically informed performance.
