Skryabin Concert
Ukrainian rock band Skryabin performs at Hannover's Kulturzentrum FAUST.
Skryabin is a Ukrainian rock band founded in 1989 in Novoyavorivsk, Lviv region, by singer-songwriter Andriy "Kuzma" Kuzmenko and his bandmates. Over more than two decades, the group released 17 studio albums and gave over 2,000 concerts, evolving from synth-pop and post-punk into pop-rock while writing almost entirely in Ukrainian. Kuzma died in a road accident on 2 February 2015, aged 46; he was posthumously named Hero of Ukraine in 2020. The surviving musicians continue to perform his catalogue under a family licensing agreement, with guest vocalist Yurko Yurchenko (Yurkesh) joining from 2018.
On 2 February 2025, Ukraine marked the 10th anniversary of Kuzma Kuzmenko's death; the band held a memorial concert with a symphony orchestra in Kyiv on 5 March 2025.
The film 'Ya, Pobeda i Berlin', based on Kuzma's autobiography and featuring 16 Skryabin songs performed by Ukrainian artists, was released in cinemas in March 2024 and later appeared on Netflix.
Skryabin released a new track in collaboration with Yurcash and a veteran soldier (callsign Sokil), recorded at Duma Studios Kyiv with support from Ukrainian drone manufacturer Deviro.
Andriy Kuzmenko was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine in 2020.
