About

Smokie are an English rock band from Bradford, Yorkshire, formed in the mid-1960s by school friends Chris Norman, Alan Silson and Terry Uttley. They broke through internationally in the mid-1970s via their partnership with songwriters Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman, racking up a string of UK Top 10 hits and selling over 30 million records worldwide. Their signature sound - Norman's raspy lead vocal set against close soft-rock harmonies - made them one of the most enduring live acts in Europe, and the band continues to tour actively to this day.
