Sonata Arctica is a Finnish power metal band from Kemi, formed in 1996 under the name Tricky Beans before pivoting to metal and signing with Spinefarm Records in 1999. Their debut album Ecliptica launched them onto the international stage, and over the following decades they built a catalogue of eleven studio albums - ranging from high-speed melodic power metal to progressive detours - released across Spinefarm, Nuclear Blast and Atomic Fire. The current lineup is vocalist and chief songwriter Tony Kakko, guitarist Elias Viljanen, keyboardist Henrik Klingenberg, bassist Pasi Kauppinen and drummer Tommy Portimo.

The band confirmed a 30th Anniversary Tour across Finland for winter 2026, with tickets going on sale in October 2025.
Sonata Arctica co-headlined a North American tour with Symphony X in September 2025, followed by five headline dates with POWERGLOVE as support.
The band returned to Latin America for additional dates on the Clear Cold Beyond World Tour in April 2025.
Sonata Arctica and Stratovarius joined forces for the Nordic Power Metal Titans 2025 co-headline tour across Finland, running from February 14 to March 8.
