Sting (born Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, 1951, Wallsend, England) is a British singer, songwriter and bassist who first rose to fame as the frontman of The Police in the late 1970s. After the band's breakup he built a solo career spanning jazz, pop, rock and world music, earning 17 Grammy Awards and induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. His solo catalogue includes landmark albums such as The Dream of the Blue Turtles (1985) and Ten Summoner's Tales (1993), alongside enduring hits like "Fields of Gold" and "Englishman in New York".
Sting released the live album STING 3.0 LIVE on April 25, 2025, documenting his power-trio world tour; a Record Store Day deluxe 2-LP edition with 17 tracks preceded the wide release.
Sting announced an expanded edition of his 2013 album The Last Ship, featuring five new recordings, released December 5, 2025, ahead of international stage productions of the musical in Paris, Amsterdam and Brisbane in 2026.
