About

The Bones of J.R. Jones is the solo project of Jonathon Linaberry, a singer-songwriter born in 1982 in central New York who launched the project in 2012 after trading punk bands for the raw blues and gospel field recordings of Alan Lomax. Playing guitar or banjo while simultaneously stomping a modified drum kit, he tours as a one-man band and has released six studio albums - most recently Radio Waves (2025), produced by Grammy-nominated Robbie Lackritz. His songs have appeared in TV series including True Detective, Suits, and Daredevil, and he scored an Amazon holiday campaign directed by Oscar-winner Taika Waititi.
