About

The Fray are an American alt-rock band from Denver, Colorado, formed in 2002 by Isaac Slade and Joe King. Their piano-driven sound and emotionally direct songwriting brought them global recognition, anchored by the RIAA Diamond-certified single "How to Save a Life" - a Billboard Hot 100 staple for 58 weeks and a cultural touchstone through its use in Grey's Anatomy. Over their career the band earned four Grammy nominations and three Billboard Music Awards; after a decade-long hiatus they returned in 2024 and released their fifth studio album, A Light That Waits, in March 2026.
