About
The Halo Effect is a Swedish melodic death metal supergroup founded in 2019 by five former members of In Flames - vocalist Mikael Stanne (also of Dark Tranquillity), guitarists Jesper Strömblad and Niclas Engelin, bassist Peter Iwers, and drummer Daniel Svensson. Signed to Nuclear Blast, the band set out to revive the classic Gothenburg sound of the 1990s that they helped pioneer. Their debut album Days of the Lost (2022) earned a Swedish Grammy nomination, and the follow-up March of the Unheard (January 2025) was widely praised by the metal press. In 2024 they took home the Rising Star trophy at the Metal Hammer Awards.
