About

The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble (TKDE) is a Dutch experimental collective founded in Utrecht around 1999-2000 by Jason Köhnen and Gideon Kiers, both graduates of the Utrecht School of Arts. Starting out as a project to score silent films such as Nosferatu and Metropolis, the group gradually expanded to a six-piece ensemble blending jazz, dark ambient, doom and electronic music. After disbanding in late 2013, TKDE reunited in 2025 with their original line-up and have been actively touring Europe since.
