The Producers is a musical by Mel Brooks that opened on Broadway in 2001. It follows two down-on-their-luck theatrical producers who scheme to get rich by deliberately staging a flop. The show won a record twelve Tony Awards and is based on Brooks's 1967 film of the same name.
