British indie rock band The Wedding Present performs live in Cologne. A classic alternative rock experience.
The Wedding Present are a British indie rock band from Leeds, formed in 1985 by guitarist and vocalist David Gedge - the group's only constant member across four decades. Their debut album George Best (1987) and the abrasive follow-up Seamonsters (1991) established them as one of the defining acts of UK indie, while a run of 18 UK Top 40 singles - including 12 in a single year (1992), matching a record held by Elvis Presley - cemented their cult status. Gedge's tightly-wound guitar sound and unflinchingly personal lyrics about love and loss remain the band's signature.
The career-spanning box set The Wedding Present: 40 was released on 19 September 2025, marking the band's 40th anniversary with a curated retrospective across 4 LPs and 4 CDs.
