Theodor Storm (1817-1888) was a German writer and poet, one of the central figures of literary realism in the German-speaking world. He is best known for his novellas, above all Der Schimmelreiter (The Rider on the White Horse). His writing combines a lyrical tone with a deep rootedness in his native Schleswig-Holstein.
