Tod in Venedig (Death in Venice) is Benjamin Britten's final opera, composed in 1973 to a libretto by Myfanwy Piper after Thomas Mann's novella. It follows the aging writer Gustav von Aschenbach, whose stay in Venice turns into an obsession with a young Polish boy named Tadzio.
