Tokio Hotel is a German pop-rock band formed in 2001 in Magdeburg by twin brothers Bill Kaulitz (vocals) and Tom Kaulitz (guitar), alongside bassist Georg Listing and drummer Gustav Schäfer. Their 2005 debut single "Durch den Monsun" shot straight to number one in Germany and Austria, launching one of the most successful German rock exports since Rammstein. Over seven studio albums the band shifted from emo-tinged pop rock toward electropop, racking up more than 10 million records sold, 70+ platinum awards, and over 110 national and international prizes including multiple MTV Europe Music Awards.
The band revealed the title of their eighth studio album, "Encore", set for release on 16 October 2026, via a social media puzzle and an Amazon pre-order listing.
The single "Memory Lane" was released on 22 May 2026 as the third single from the upcoming album "Encore", with the music video following two days later.
"California Nights" was released on 27 February 2026 as the second single from the forthcoming album.
"Changes" was released on 14 November 2025 as the lead single from the upcoming album, kicking off a new recording cycle.
On 15 August 2025, the band performed a one-off anniversary concert in Berlin marking 20 years since the release of "Durch den Monsun".
