Tomasz Stańko (1942–2018) was a Polish jazz trumpeter and one of the most significant figures in European jazz of the 20th century. Known for his lyrical, meditative tone, he collaborated with Krzysztof Komeda and recorded extensively for the ECM label. His music blended free jazz with a distinctly European sensibility.
