Kai & Funky von Ton Steine Scherben feat. Birte Volta
A live show featuring Kai and Funky from iconic German rock band Ton Steine Scherben, joined by special guest Birte Volta.
Ton Steine Scherben were a West Berlin rock band founded in 1970 by Rio Reiser, R.P.S. Lanrue, Kai Sichtermann and Wolfgang Seidel - among the first groups to play rock in the German language without it sounding derivative. Their politically charged lyrics made them a soundtrack to the squatter movement and the West German new left; the 1972 double album "Keine Macht für Niemand" became a landmark of German rock. The band dissolved in 1985 under the weight of debt; after Rio Reiser's death in 1996, founding members Kai Sichtermann and Funky K. Götzner have continued to tour as Kai & Funky von Ton Steine Scherben, since 2023 joined by singer-songwriter Birte Volta.
