About
Tosca is an opera in three acts by Italian composer Giacomo Puccini, which premiered in Rome in 1900. The libretto was written by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa, based on a play by Victorien Sardou. The opera tells the dramatic story of the singer Tosca, her lover the painter Cavaradossi, and the ruthless Baron Scarpia. It is one of the most frequently performed operas in the world repertoire.
