About

Tygers of Pan Tang are an English heavy metal band from Whitley Bay, formed in 1978 by guitarist Robb Weir and three fellow Northerners. They were among the leading acts of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, with their 1980 debut Wild Cat charting at number 18 in the UK and a string of acclaimed albums following - including Spellbound (1981) and Crazy Nights (1982), the latter featuring a young John Sykes on guitar. After disbanding in 1987, Weir reformed the band in 1999 and has kept it active ever since, releasing their fourteenth studio album Electrifyed in September 2026.
