Ute Lemper (born 4 July 1963 in Münster) is a German singer, actress, and composer widely regarded as the foremost living interpreter of Weimar-era cabaret. She won the 1987 Molière Award for her Paris Cabaret and the 1998 Laurence Olivier Award for Velma Kelly in Chicago's West End revival, later reprising the role on Broadway. Her 30-plus albums span Kurt Weill, Marlene Dietrich, Edith Piaf, and her own songwriting, with her 1986 debut Ute Lemper Sings Kurt Weill topping Billboard's crossover chart.
Lemper released the album 'Pirate Jenny' on The Audiophile Society, reimagining Kurt Weill's music for his 125th birth anniversary with electronic and beat-driven arrangements; it was named among MusicConnection's Top 20 Albums of 2025.
