Vanessa Mai (born Vanessa Marija Else Mandekić, 2 May 1992 in Backnang, Baden-Württemberg) is a German pop and Schlager singer who first rose to prominence as the frontwoman of the band Wolkenfrei before launching a solo career in 2016. Her debut solo single "Ich sterb für dich", produced by Dieter Bohlen, became a major hit, and she has since released eleven studio albums, steadily broadening her sound from traditional Schlager toward danceable pop.
