Verstärkung is the long-standing backing band of German rock poet and writer Heinz Rudolf Kunze, active together since the early 1980s. The current lineup features Lenard 'Leo' Schmidthals (bass), Jens Carstens (drums), Matthias Ulmer (keyboards), Manuel Lopez and Andrew Graser (guitars). Together they have recorded and toured across more than four decades, with Kunze releasing his 47th studio album 'Angebot und Nachfrage' in late summer 2025. The band's name is simply the German word for 'reinforcement' or 'amplification'.
