Walter Trout (born March 6, 1951, Ocean City, New Jersey) is an American blues-rock guitarist, singer, and songwriter whose career spans more than five decades. He served as lead guitarist in Canned Heat (1981-1984) and John Mayall's Bluesbreakers (1984-1989), following in the footsteps of Eric Clapton and Peter Green, before launching a solo career in 1989 that has produced over 30 albums. A liver transplant in 2014 sidelined him for nearly a year, but he returned to the stage and has since released some of his most acclaimed work, with his 2024 album Broken debuting at #1 on the Billboard Blues Chart.
Walter Trout released his 32nd solo album Sign of the Times on September 5, 2025 via Provogue, described as one of the toughest-sounding records in his catalogue.
