Winterreise (Winter Journey) is a cycle of 24 songs for voice and piano composed by Franz Schubert in 1827 to poems by Wilhelm Müller. It is regarded as one of the pinnacles of Romantic song and depicts the wanderings of a lonely traveller through a winter landscape. Hans Zender created a reinterpretation for voice and chamber orchestra in 1993, which he described as a "composed interpretation".
