About

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) was an Austrian composer of the Classical period, born in Salzburg, whose output of over 800 works spans virtually every genre of his time - symphonies, concertos, operas, chamber music and sacred choral works. A child prodigy who performed before European royalty at age six, he later settled in Vienna as one of the first composers to work as a freelance musician rather than under permanent court patronage. His operas Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni and Die Zauberflöte have never left the repertory since their premieres, and his unfinished Requiem in D minor (KV 626) remains among the most iconic works in Western music.
