About

Yard Act are a post-punk quartet from Leeds, formed in 2019 by vocalist James Smith and bassist Ryan Needham. Their debut album The Overload (2022) earned a Mercury Prize nomination, and the follow-up Where's My Utopia? (2024) reached the UK Top 5 - both records built on Smith's sharp, spoken-word-inflected lyrics about modern life. A third album, You're Gonna Need A Little Music, is due July 17, 2026 via Island Records.
