Yellowjackets are an American jazz fusion band formed in Los Angeles in 1977, originally as the backing group for guitarist Robben Ford. After Ford's departure they built an independent career spanning 25+ albums, 17 Grammy nominations and two Grammy wins - for Best R&B Instrumental Performance (1987) and Best Jazz Fusion Performance (1989). Founding keyboardist Russell Ferrante remains the sole original member; the current lineup also features saxophonist Bob Mintzer, drummer Will Kennedy and Australian bassist Dane Alderson.
Yellowjackets released their 27th studio album 'Fasten Up' on February 21, 2025 via Mack Avenue Records, featuring 10 originals and a cover of Ben Tucker's 'Comin' Home Baby'.
