Zar und Zimmermann (Tsar and Carpenter) is a comic opera by the German composer Albert Lortzing, first performed in Leipzig in 1837. The plot follows Peter the Great working incognito as a carpenter in Holland. It remains one of the most frequently staged works in the 19th-century German operatic repertoire.
