Anthrax is an American heavy metal band formed in New York City in 1981. One of the "Big Four" of thrash metal alongside Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth, they are known for albums such as Among the Living and Persistence of Time. The band also pioneered a crossover with hip-hop, notably collaborating with Public Enemy on a version of "Bring the Noise".
