Charles Dickens was a 19th-century English novelist and one of the most prominent figures of Victorian literature. He is the author of the beloved novella A Christmas Carol (1843), in which the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge undergoes a moral transformation on Christmas Eve. His other works include Oliver Twist and Great Expectations.
