George Gershwin

George Gershwin (1898–1937) was an American composer and pianist who blended classical music with jazz and blues. He is best known for the opera Porgy and Bess and orchestral works such as Rhapsody in Blue and An American in Paris. His songs, often written with his brother Ira, are cornerstones of the American popular songbook.
