Salon Mahler is an evening celebrating the music and legacy of the great composer and conductor Gustav Mahler at Volkstheater Wien.
Gustav Mahler (1860–1911) was an Austrian composer and conductor, one of the central figures of late Romanticism. He is known for his large-scale symphonies and song cycles such as Das Lied von der Erde. His Symphony No. 3 in D minor is among the longest symphonic works in the repertoire, calling for a large orchestra, choruses, and a mezzo-soprano soloist.
