Sir Simon Rattle is a British conductor and one of the most prominent figures in classical music of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. He rose to international fame as chief conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic (2002–2018) and subsequently became chief conductor of the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks. He is known for a broad repertoire spanning from the Baroque era to contemporary music.
