The Smiths were a British rock band from Manchester, active from 1982 to 1987. Fronted by vocalist Morrissey and guitarist Johnny Marr, they became known for their melodic guitar sound and introspective, witty lyrics. Their album The Queen Is Dead (1986) is widely regarded as one of the greatest rock records ever made.
