Thomas Brasch (1945–2001) was a German writer, poet, playwright, and film director. Born in England and raised in East Germany, he emigrated to West Germany in 1976. His work, shaped by his experience of life under a totalitarian regime, spans poetry, prose, and drama, and earned him several major literary awards.
