Inspired by this insight, Tom analyzes the bewildering universe of gatherers: that mysterious world of best friends, shopping, and sex. With an enormous need to communicate, dry humor, and an ironic eye, Tom also observes the lifestyle of the hunter. He reveals what fulfillment "sitting without talking" can bring, why men must flip through television channels, and that a conversation between hunters begins and ends with the words "Let's go to the basement and drill something."
