Romeo and Julia on the Farm - Based on the Novella by Gottfried Keller

Two farmers, once friends, fall into a bitter dispute over a tiny plot of land. As the fathers' hatred grows without bounds, their children - Sali and Vrenchen - discover their love for each other and search for a place for their happiness against all odds, seeking a day of eternity.

Keller's delicate and clear prose tells the story of a deep love that cannot be, must not be. For in this society, greed, origin, and convention matter more than love.

"It is one of the most beautiful stories ever written in the German language." (Sommers Weltliteratur)
