Sebastian Gahler Electric Project
Jazz Club Minden, Germany
Following the success of his Haruki Murakami-inspired album "Two Moons" (2022) - with over 10 million streams - Düsseldorf jazz pianist Sebastian Gahler returns two years later with his next record. "Electric Stories" is groove-based, high-energy jazz with substance, presenting Gahler as a musical storyteller.
The sound draws on the electro, funk and fusion jazz of the 1960s and 70s - the era where Gahler traces his musical roots, taking cues from touchstones like Herbie Hancock's "Head Hunters" (1973). He swaps the grand piano for a fortress of vintage keyboards: the bell-like tines of a Fender Rhodes meet the punchy attack of a Wurlitzer E-Piano, the floating vibrato of a Hammond B-3 blends with the warm lead tones of a Moog synthesizer - rounded off by the silvery shimmer of a Hohner String Performer.
