In Bodo Wartke's solo theatrical adaptation, the Greek tragedy "King Oedipus" becomes a clever and entertaining stage play. What often seemed like dry material in school here gains musical wit, pace, and depth. With just nine props, piano accompaniment, and his verbal dexterity, Wartke brings all fourteen characters to life over 120 minutes.

He never loses respect for the source material: the story of Oedipus, who unknowingly kills his father Laius and marries his mother Jocasta, remains tragic and moving - yet simultaneously gains an unexpected lightness.

In the end, the audience can share Laius' horror at Jocasta's innocent question "Wat haste?" with amused dread.
