With "Antigone", Bodo Wartke presents the sequel to his play "King Oedipus": Sophocles' tragedy as a modern, rhymed theatrical piece that he brings to the stage together with actress Melanie Haupt.

Dramaturg Carmen Kalisch and director Sven Schütze contributed to the production. The staging tells the story of Oedipus' eldest daughter and also incorporates the backstory from "Oedipus at Colonus".

Antigone's resistance to state tyranny stands at the centre - questions about responsibility, freedom, and civic courage that Wartke's version brings into the present day.
