Berlin-based YAKOU TRIBE has been around for 20 years and released their fifth album "Out Of Sight" in spring 2019. The quartet, led by guitarist Christian Kögel and alto saxophonist Jan von Klewitz, moves between the sound of American road movies, the urban America of the 1950s, and South American influences.

Double and electric bassist Pepe Berns (with the band since 2017) and Klewitz bring in folkloric, Brazilian-flavoured jazz songs and ballads, while Kögel's and drummer Rainer Winch's compositions draw on the progressive rock of the 1970s.

Critic Thomas Steinfeld wrote about "Out of Sight" (Traumton Records): "The more often you listen to the album, the more you sense that these ten songs conceal a playful, assured dialogue with the listening communities of long-gone eras. Each of them can play anything - across genres and across time."
