Following the Oscar-winning film adaptation of "Judith und Hamnet", Maggie O'Farrell returns to her Irish roots with her new novel "Land" (Piper). Set in 1865, shortly after the Great Famine, the story follows Tomás and his son Liam as they are tasked with mapping Ireland. After visiting an ancient, mystical grove, Tomás becomes obsessed with the idea that his maps should bear witness to the past catastrophe - and his family begins to fall apart.

The conversation will be conducted in German and English, moderated by journalist and author Margarete von Schwarzkopf. Actress Ellen Schulz-Krandick will read from the German translation by Nikolaus Hansen and Kathrin Razum.
